A new quartet ZU & MIKE PATTON starts!!! Debut at Victoriaville Festival , Quebec , Canada on May 22nd!!! Zu will be special guest for a few shows of the FantomasMelvins Bigband in Europe and are invited in the "Patton Night"of the Donau festival in Vienna, Austria.

Quartet with Mats Gustafsson - the cd is out on Atavistic from Chicago. playing festival worldwide, notably at the Vancouver Jazz in June.

Original Silence ( a new band with Thurston Moore, Jim O' Rourke, Mats Gustafsson, Terrie Ex, Paal Nilssen- Love, Massimo Zu) : debut cd on Smalltown Supersound (fantastic label from Oslo, Norway) in summer 2006!!!

Bio:
Zu: a trio from Rome, Italy, that played more than 600 concerts worldwide in 5 years of activity . Their music is difficult to define , you can hear no-wave angularity, funk grooves, jazz tunes, mathematic tightness , and Zu play equally in rock, jazz, and contemporary music festivals worldwide: Korea , Japan , Usa , Russia, eastern and western Europe

Zu collaborates with great musicians as Thurston Moore, Jim O' Rourke, The Ex, Dalek, Peter Brotzmann, Hamid Drake, Alvin Curran, Damo Suzuki, Eugene Chadbourne, Ken Vandermark, Mats Gustafsson, Amy Denio, Paal Nilssen-Love, Dj Olive , Han Bennink,.etc.

Zu has been on tour with The Ex, Ruins, Dalek, Fantomas, Nomeansno, Lightning Bolt, Vandermark 5, Melvins, and many more ...

2 cds are recorded bySteve Albini( Igneo ) andBob Weston( Radiale ). Radiale is a collaboration with Spaceways inc, released by Atavistic records , with Touch and Go distribution worldwide. It was in the 2004 jazz top 10 of the Village Voice ( NYC )

2 new cds : "The Way Of The Animal Powers" with Fred Lonberg- Holm, on Xeng , distributed by Hausmusik and Forced Exposure (Usa).

"How To Raise An Ox" in quartet with Mats Gustafsson, on Atavistic, Chicago, worldwide distribution by Touch & Go records.

Other points:
A collaboration with japanese electronic music master Nobukazu Takemura is ready and will be out on Xeng in spring 2006 .

A collaboration with hip hop band Dalek is recorded and on its way to be released .

Massimo Zu played also with the dutch band The Ex and with "Original Silence", a band featuring Thurston Moore, Jim O' Rourke, Mats Gustafsson, Terrie Ex, Paal Nilssen-Love, and that also played with Han Bennink and Guy Picciotto of Fugazi ,

Luca Mai played live with the american band Karate and appears on their live album. He has also a duo with Mats Gustafsson.
